About the course

The quest to understand brain function is an interdisciplinary scientific endeavour as it relies on various techniques with which scientists probe complex aspects of neural activity.

Modern neuroscience poses formidable challenges to any scientist: dealing with different theoretical frameworks and technical know-how from diverse fields, successfully performing experiments, obtaining high-quality data, and ultimately interpreting complex datasets.

In this annual two-week intensive course hosted by the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg, we bridge experimental and data science to give you theoretical knowledge of advanced optical interrogation techniques, with practical hands-on experience and sophisticated  data analysis skills to extract fundamental principles of brain function.

With the help of a range of international experts, you will gain in-depth knowledge and experience unique networking opportunities. Together, the course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical and data analysis sessions on a daily basis.
